In most cases, we treat patients who are referred by doctors.  However, under the Direct Access Bill, you may be eligible to receive physical therapy services without a doctor’s referral.

Though treatments will vary depending on your particular needs, generally plan an hour for each visit.

Kaimuki Care provides easy access to our clients.  Plenty of free parking conveniently available in the Kaimuki Shopping Center parking lot.  There are elevators on each end of the building, as well as stairs. The elevator at the Ewa end of the building is the closest to Kaimuki Care.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time on your first visit to fill out paperwork, and bring the physical therapy referral from your doctor, a picture ID (driver’s license), and your insurance card(s).  Wear comfortable, loose clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, or any athletic attire.

After finishing your paperwork, you will be evaluated by a licensed physical therapist.  You will discuss your symptoms with the therapist in addition to any other pertinent information such as activities that are affected by your condition. Your therapist will then take you through tests and measures including strength and flexibility testing and ultimately create your unique treatment plan.

Follow-up treatments depend on the assessment of your condition, your treatment plan, your insurance requirements, and your response to treatment.  Your physical therapist can provide you an estimate of the frequency and duration of your treatment plan.

Almost all health insurance plans cover physical therapy with a doctor referral.  Contact your health insurance customer service by calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card, review your plan coverage online, or consult with your employer’s benefits manager to determine the extent of insurance coverage for physical therapy.
